Ultimate Guide to Bangkok Thailand

Important Update for Travelers to Thailand! 🇹🇭

Starting 1 May 2025, all non-Thai nationals entering Thailand by air, land, or sea must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online before arrival.

https://tdac.immigration.go.th

There is NO charge for the arrival card. If you see a payment screen you are on a fake site.

You can register within 3 days before arrival. The arrival card will be a requirement at check in for all flights into Thailand. Unlike the Dominican Republic you do not need a separate card for departure.

BANGKOK IMOL RANKINGS

Difficulty Level 3/10

GFE Level 8/10

Concerns: 11.2 million people, heavily congested roads, smog and dodgy bars on Soi Cowboy.

Why we go there: Bangkok “bangers” is one of the funnest “big” cities on the planet. Red light districts, blow job bars, Jazz clubs, speak easy’s, best food on the planet.

“No one does Bangkok better than me!” Donald J Trump

Essential Apps for travel in Thailand:

LINE APP - is the main app for communication. WhatsApp is a close second.

Instal Google Translate and download the Thai Language for offline use. You won’t need to use it very often but it’s great to have when the need arrives.

BOLT is the primary transportation app that everyone uses. It’s an absolute must for arranging taxi’s and motorcycle rides in town.

Pro Tip: GRAB App is used for transportation and food delivery. You need to have this app if you plan on spending time with the Thai women. Inevitably you’ll need to order food, Thai women eat constantly.

Five quick tips:

  1. We use a car service called Pim’s. She can arrange transport to/ from the Bangkok airports into downtown Bangkok or into Pattaya.

  2. Sky train departs from the top floor of BKK - you can be in Nana Plaza in less than twenty minutes.

  3. Four middle eastern owned bars on Soi Cowboy are problematic.

  4. Nana Plaza is fun but so are the other Soi‘s off Sukhumvit - explore!

  5. Stay near Nana Plaza and explore during the day

Logistics

Bangkok has two airports, Suvarnabhumi Airport BKK “aka swampy” and the older Don Mueang Airport DMG. BKK opened in 2006 and serves as the primary International airport while DMG now services domestic and regional international flights.

Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport (BKK) is one of the nicest international airports on the planet. Clean, modern and efficient. Upon arrival it usually takes less than 30 minutes to work your way through the airport and customs / immigration. After exiting C&I you will find ATM machines, International SIM card vendors and transportation options.

Pim's Pattaya Taxi service can provide you with private transportation to/from BKK airport. They also service both Bangkok and Pattaya. Contact her at least 24hrs before arrival and provide your flight information and hotel / rental location. Cost is 800 baht from BKK to city center, 1000 baht to Pattaya.

The Suvarnabhumi Airport Link runs from the bottom level of the airport, just follow the signs. If it’s your first time using the rail system, bypass the kiosks and just go to the service window to purchase tickets. Your destination will be the Phaya Thai station. Don't worry, the cashiers speak English and are always happy to help. Trains depart every 15 minutes from the BKK station and they operate until midnight. Once you arrive at Phaya Thai you will need to switch to the BTS train, again just follow the signs it’s super easy. Again, go to the service window and buy another ticket for the Nana Plaza stop. Trust me, this is super easy, again just follow the BTS signs and instructions - all in English. Total cost for both trains is only 125 baht and the transit will take around 30 minutes.

Visitors are required to have at least three months validity and two empty pages in their passport. 60 day tourist visas are issued upon arrival for citizens of most countries. Proof of onward travel is required. If you decide to stay longer than 60 days our visa agent in Pattaya can arrange for 30 day visa extensions. She can also handle retirement visas, student visas, bank accounts and drivers licenses.

Tourist SIM cards can be purchased at the True 5G booth located in the arrivals area of the airport. 1000 baht will buy 30 days of unlimited data.

Hotels

We recommend finding a hotel with walking distance of the Nana BTS station.

As noted in the video, Majestic Suites , Dynasty Grande and Citrus Suites are all guest friendly, modern and within easy striking distance of the entertainment zones. A more upscale alternative would be the Solitaire Hotel in the Soi 11 district. The best rates can usually be found on Agoda.com as always check the latest reviews before booking.

Street Food in Bangkok is not to be missed. Delicious, cheap and completely safe to eat.

Most of the vendors will set small stools out for their customers to enjoy while they wait for their food. Typically the vendors also sell cold beer to help wash the delicious plate of food down. You will find numerous street food vendors along all of the Soi’s and in front of Nana Plaza late at night until 6am. Typical meals include fried rice, Tom Yum soup, chicken with cashew and believe it or not, fried chicken.

Clubs, speak easy’s and jazz bars

The Club scene in Bangkok is one of the best on the planet. The vibe, the architecture and the music inside these venues is second to none. A few things to note, unlike Pattaya most of the nicer clubs have a dress code so bring some appropriate attire, flip flops and shorts are a no go. Prices are going to be higher than the regular bars - don't freak when that beer costs 250 baht. We have the menu from Levels posted below. Last but not least, none of these places start ramping up before 11pm at night.

Levels - Located on Sukhumvit Soi 11 on the 7th floor of Aloft Bangkok hotel, this club offers a dance floor with house music as well as a huge main room where the best local and international DJs play EDM, house and commercial music. We listed this club first because of its reputation of being loaded to the gills with freelance girls. Not the most unique venue in town but if you are looking for companionship this is one of the hot spots.

Onyx Club - Located on Royal City Avenue (RCA) it is not only the most popular on the street but it also the largest nightclub in Bangkok. With a capacity topping 2,000 guests and an interior featuring luxury VIP booths, bottle service, cutting-edge sound system and a secondary underground room. Onyx embraces the “big-room style” prevalent in places like Ibiza, Tokyo and Berlin. Inside, the interior is typical, with standing tables to set your bottle of whatever on and a central platform in front of a massive LED screen. The feature music at Onyx is EDM. Like most clubs, don't even think of coming here before midnight.

Sing Sing Theater located on Soi Sukhumvit 45 is one of favorite clubs Bangkok due to its unique fusion of nightclub and theatre. Upon entering you’ll notice the distinct decor reminiscent of Shanghai in the 1930s. The layout is complete with multiple walkways that lead into hidden seating areas and vantage spots. Large hanging red lanterns, Thai dancers dressed in Chinese robes, and metal cages located along the dance floor set the unique vibe in this club. Sing Sing has two downstairs bars, a central dance floor that doubles as a stage for performances, and a balcony that hangs above the ground floor. Each night at the nightclub has a different theme or genre of music. Whilst being one of the most unique venues in town it is also one of the most pricey. Still, if you looking for a unique experience or a venue to impress your date - Sing Sing is your spot.

Sugar Club, located on Sukhumvit Soi 11, is the best Hip Hop / R&B club in town. This club regularly hosts a variety of artists from both Thailand and abroad. Previous acts include Tyga, Lil Yachty and Rae Sremmurd. More of a pure dance club this is a great destination if you are looking for a long night of Hip Hop. Doors open at 11pm.

Saxophone Pub for a heavy dose of jazz music inside a very cool pub/restaurant. Live music every night of the week. This place is so cool you’ll think you're in Memphis.

All of these clubs (and more) are listed on our Google Maps List

Massage parlors

Soapy massage, oil massage, face, foot, neck, back, leg and of course naughty massages.

Ready to treat yourself? High End Maria Entertainment and Spa. The girls are all model level talent, just be sure to bring your wallet. Prices start at 5,000 bath and go up to 30,000 bath for a ninety minute session. Poseidon Entertainment Complex is much easier on the Baht and still offers quality talent. Prices start at 2,700 baht for ninety minute session.

Standard massage parlors are located throughout the entertainment districts. Rule of thumb, if the girls are in nice uniforms chances are it is a legit massage shop. If the girls are dressed in street clothes or school girl uniforms it is a naught massage shop filled with extra menu items. Price will range depending on service requested. 1,000 baht usually gets the package.

Pull open this vending machine located in Bangkok’s Chinatown and you will find one of the coolest bars in town!

The Buph Phe Bar’s hidden entrance is half of the experience. By prepared to get a lot of curious glances as you pull open the vending machine door and disappear into this speakeasy. Located in Chinatown this bar can be a lot of fun if you catch it on the right night.

As mentioned in the video, your area of operation should be Sukhumvit Road and the Sois between Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy.

Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy and all of the adjacent Soi's along Sukhumvit road between the the two districts are more than enough to keep a young man entertained… for days, if not a week. Our Google Maps list will point you in the right direction.

Bangkok is an extremely safe city. Walking up and down the various Soi’s off of Sukhumvit road can be more fun than the Nana Complex. The drinks are significantly cheaper than the Go Go bars, especially during happy hour. The bar fines are less and so are the lady drinks. Wander up and down the Soi's until you see someone who peaks your interest, buy a few lady drinks and see how things progress.

The Nana Entertainment Complex is essentially a roofed open air 3 level complex of Go-Go bars. You’ll have to pass through a light security check to enter. There is a very strict - no photography or video rule and it is heavily enforced.

The starting point for most guys is the Stumble Inn bar located next to the Nana Entertainment Complex. Day drinking approved and if you're lonely there are freelancers standing across the street next to Hooters. Note: you will see a wide range of freelancers including African girls, muslim women, Thai, Cambodian and the occasional Lady Boy wandering around.

Most girls will ask for 3,000 baht for long time, feel free to negotiate. There is a risk factor with freelancers, take extra precautions to protect valuables. Make sure you introduce any guests to the front desk of your hotel. This is for your protection.

** Warning: There are a few bars on Soi Cowboy who have earned bad reputations, due to reported disputes over bar tabs and aggressive security staff.

A recent Reddit Post " I’ve always mentioned the same scam bar in my posts; Midnite Bar Soi Cowboy. But my latest post includes three other bars, Deja Vu, Rio and Spicy Girls. But yes, the ThailandTourism Reddit group banned me yesterday. Which is a bit harsh as I didn’t get any warning that I could be banned and I’m only trying to warn people about dangerous places."

The bars along Soi Cowboy do not open until after 7:00pm

Tilac Go-Go on Soi Cowboy. This is the bar where the interior bar shots for the movie Hangover 2 were filmed. It looks exactly like it does in the movie.

Suzi Wongs on Soi Cowboy. An absolute institution in Bangkok. Catch the shows after 10:00pm

Lolita's on Sukhumvit 8, blow job bar.

Angelwitch, Spanky's and Lollipop in Nana Plaza. All are Go-Go bars and all put on a good show.

Bar fines and short time / long time costs vary and depend on the venue and the girl. Some bars / go-go's will have an all inclusive price which includes the bar fine and the girl's fee, others just charge the bar fine and let the girl set the price for her time. Ask the girl or mamasan for pricing. A good average is 5,000 baht inside the Go-Go clubs for long time, 2,500 baht for short time. Lady Drinks in Bangkok average 175 - 225 baht, again depending on the venue.

The Beer Bar complex’s along Soi 7 are a great stop when walking in between Nana Complex and Soi Cowboy.

Be careful of the African guys on Sukhumvit Road. They will try to sell you narcotics and/or prostitutes. These guys are notorious for causing issues and are best to be avoided.

The Game located on Sukhumvit Road is an American owned sports bar and a great place to escape Bangkok’s heat and catch a game. Cold beer and great food.

Soi 11 is a fun district without the seediness of Nana Plaza. Lot’s of hip little bars, good restaurants and a fun upscale vibe. It's one of our favorite Soi's off of Sukhumvit Road.

The Thermae Cafe

Located underneath of the Ruamchitt Plaza Hotel on Sukhumvit Road is the '‘infamous” Thermal Cafe. FYI, no one comes in here for the coffee. This is a freelancer hookup spot.

Before you even enter the building you will see plenty of girls standing around looking for customers. Beware that some of them are LadyBoys (they are not allowed inside the building)

Walk into the hotel lobby, look for the green neon sign and then head down the stairs. Once inside you’ll have to purchase one mandatory coffee, beer or other beverage, you are now free to browse through the dozens of freelance girls all standing around. These girls are mostly Bangkok professional women, officer workers etc whom are down here looking for side money. Photo below..

There are literally hundreds of Go Go bars, Gentleman’s Clubs, erotic massage parlors, freelancer venues and flat out brothels scattered around Bangkok. It would impossible to list them all. Go out and explore, that’s half the fun. Just make sure to report back and share the intel.

Khaosan Road

At some point while doing your research on Bangkok you may come across some articles mentioning Khaosan Road in downtown Bangkok.

To be honest, most of you animals will be bored to death hanging out on Khaosan Road. Unless you're looking for Eastern European backpack chicks or stoner broads. Regardless, we were bored so we went down and shot some video.

Yes, we realize that we mispronounced the names of several streets during the video. Eight different countries in seven months: I think that earns us a few flubs.

Summary

Bangkok is a remarkable city. Relatively crime free the only hustle usually comes from the taxi's and Tuk Tuk drivers, easily avoidable by using either the Bolt or Grab app. You can easily fill three days here just by exploring the temples, canals, shopping districts and fantastic restaurants. Obviously your nights will not be boring either. The only warning is that Bangkok can get to be a bit too much. We strongly recommend taking the city in small doses, two or three days at a time. As always, if you have further questions just log into the Asia Chat Group and ask. One of us over here will be happy to assist.
