Oceanfront Dining in Na Jomtien - toes in the sand

Where the Gulf of Thailand does the work and the neon stays up the road

Na Jomtien is where Pattaya’s coastline starts acting like a resort town again. South of the hill and past Pratamnak, Dongtan and Jomtien the beach finally opens up. Hotels, restaurants and bars located directly on the water with sand under the table legs not a soi stool under a LED sign. Most visitors have no idea what awaits them down here.

This is what we mean when we say Pattaya beyond the noise. Grab a Bolt down from Central Pattaya, Jomtien or Pratumnak (often 150–250 baht and twenty minutes depending on traffic and where you start), grab a table on the sand and eat with a sunset on the horizon.

Morning beach walks down here are worth the initial car ride. Grab coffee at Jimmy’s Surf Kitchen, walk the beach south to View Mare, wade across the small inlet (if the tide isn’t flooding) continue down to Bayphere Hotel. You’ll pass every spot we have listed.

The Cave

Beachfront dining on bean bags with club energy when the sun drops. The Cave: gulf views, a huge deck that fills up, and a vibe that stretches from late lunch into after-dark without feeling like you’ve left the coast for downtown. Thai menu featuring the chef’s latest creations at prices that won’t make your wallet shake. Be patient, your on Na Jomtien time and no one is fighting for a bar fine down here. No space on the deck, slide to the right and its sister restaurant Glass House.

Glass House

Sister property to The Cave, combined they make one of the coolest beach restaurants on this stretch of the planet. Vibe and a setting that photographs itself. Go for the view as much as the plate. Unlike its sister restaurant next door, Glass House is oceanfront but instead of bean bags you’ll be sitting at antique wood tables.

Bacco Beach Italian

Rigatoni and a bottle of wine served at a table with your feet almost in the sea. This unpretentious yet gorgeous oceanfront Italian eatery rewards you for leaving the hotel. One of the largest wine selections in Chon Buri and mains straight from Tuscany. Hand made pasta, sauces and perfectly grilled meats. Quite possibly the best pizzas on the Gulf of Thailand coast.

Jimmy’s Surf Kitchen

Local pub energy with a surf bar soul. Jimmy’s fits the Na Jomtien brief: casual, close to the water, built for people who want a plate and a cold drink without a dress code. Good bridge between “we just left the pool” and “we’re staying for sunset.” Yes, this is the same legendary Jimmy from Jomtien’s Soi 7. Drifters Beach Cafe

Drifters Beach Cafe

Self describes as a “laid back Australian style beach cafe”. No argument from us, this place will put you into instant “beach mode”. Pizza, casual plates, beach hours that bleed into early evening. Drifters is the soft landing when a full dinner reservation still feels like too much commitment. Note, they literally lost their roof over a zoning dispute a few years ago. Quick reset with poles, ropes and lots of canvas and they were chillin’ in the shade again. Apartment rentals across the street.

Alexa Beach Club

Alexa Beach Club offers guests DAY & NIGHT Ibiza-born lifestyle to SPEND-ALL-DAY to relax and unwind in a supreme style & comfort, just 140km from Bangkok. Bringing together LIVE DJ sets, spectacular SHOWS & LIVE entertainment, variety of dining experiences, OPEN-AIR exteriors & a chilled-out vibe to match it’s an ideal place to let loose once again.

Love Republic

Oceanfront with a little more theater. Love Republic plays the beach-club / dining hybrid: drinks, views, and a swimming pool that wants you to linger. Worth a look when the brief is “make a night of it” rather than “feed me and Bolt home.”

View Mare

Oceanfront classic on the Na Jomtien run. Sunset, tables on the beach and handy if anyone in your group is chasing kiteboarding and windsurfing schools work this is the corridor. (November–February is often the better window). Come for the water; stay for the unhurried pace.

Pink Salmon Beach House

Oceanfront beach bar with a vibe matching the name. Reclaimed wood, umbrellas, teak and music to set the setting. Another sunset candidate on the strip: ocean air, beach combing, the kind of place you clock once and then navigate back to by memory. Pro Tip: Hit the adjacent string of Thai beach bars after dinner for a late night beverage on the beach.

kaBARna Beach Bar — Bayphere Hotel

Hotel beach bar done right. kaBARna at Bayphere puts you on the sand with a proper bar program and the backup of a resort behind you — bathrooms, shade, and a ride home that isn’t a scavenger hunt. Sunset cocktails, barefoot service energy, and an easy add-on if you’re already sleeping south or meeting friends who are.

How to navigate the beach

Timing: Arrive for sunset or don’t bother pretending you came for the lighting. Weekends get busy with the weekend Bangkok crew, yeah that’s a thing down here.

Transport: Bolt / Grab from Pratumnak or Jomtien. Place the pin on The Cave or Pink Salmon if you don’t want to wade the inlet at View Mare. “Na Jomtien beach” is a long piece of coast. Save the venue name in Thai if your driver looks lost.

Pairings: Ramayana or a hotel pool by day, this beach by night. Alexa Beach Club and The Standard sit in the same south-coast gravity well if you want daybeds before dinner.

What this isn’t: Walking Street with a sea view. If someone at the table wants lady drinks and a stage, they’re in the wrong place.

Na Jomtien doesn’t need a slogan to sell itself. The water does that. These are the tables we keep sending people to when they ask where to eat on the sand, not across the street from it.
