Ramayana Water Park: The Full-Day Escape South of Pattaya
Slides, wave pools, lazy river — and a ticket trick most tourists never hear about
If you’re doing Pattaya the quiet way — Jomtien, Pratumnak, Na Jomtien — you still need one loud day. Not Walking Street loud. Water-park loud. Ramayana Water Park, out past the south end of town toward Na Chom Thian / Sattahip, is the one we send people to when they ask for a proper full-day soak.
It’s about 20 minutes from central Pattaya by car (a bit more from the north end of town, less if you’re already in Na Jomtien). Address on the gate: 9 Moo 7, Ban Yen Road, Na Chom Thian, Sattahip, Chonburi 20250. No baht bus drops you at the door. Bolt, Grab, taxi, or a hotel transfer is the move.
This isn’t a hotel pool with a plastic slide. Ramayana runs the full program: a stack of serious waterslides, wave pools, kids’ zones, and a lazy river long enough to actually decompress. Lockers, tubes, mats, life jackets — the park’s ticket covers the basics so you’re not nickel-and-dimed for every float.
Go for the slides in the first hour. Queues are shortest right after opening. Save the lazy river and the sunbed for when the midday heat peaks and the adrenaline crowd is already cooked.
Hours (confirm before you go): typically 11:00–18:00, closed Wednesdays. Slides often start winding down around 17:30 so people can shower and change before the gate. Weather can shut attractions — that’s normal for outdoor parks; keep your wristband if they issue a rain check.
Getting there
From Jomtien or Pratumnak, a Bolt is the cleanest option. From Bangkok it’s roughly 80 minutes depending on traffic — fine as a day trip if you’re based in the capital and don’t mind the road.
Arrange your return ride before late afternoon. The park sits outside the dense Beach Road pickup zone; standing at the gate at 18:05 hoping for a random car is how you earn an unnecessary wait.
Tickets — and the pro tip
Official tourist tickets are sold online and at the gate. Online is usually a little cheaper than walk-up, and online buyers sometimes get priority if the park hits capacity. Check ramayanawaterpark.com the week you go — promotions move.
Pro tip: Plenty of taxi and Bolt drivers will offer to buy your tickets for you at a reduced price. They’re not running a scam out of the glove box — they’re using the local / resident discount pricing the park offers (the rate meant for Thai ID or documented local eligibility). The driver buys at the local window, you pay them an agreed amount that still beats the foreigner gate rate, and everyone walks in.
How to play it:
Ask before you leave the hotel or as soon as you’re in the car — “Can you get local tickets?”
Agree the all-in price (tickets + your ride) before you roll.
You’re trusting the driver with cash at the counter. Use a driver you’d use again. Hotel desk recommendations and familiar Bolt drivers beat a random curb pitch at 10:55.
If anything feels off, buy official tickets yourself. The discount is real; the handshake still needs common sense.
We’d rather you hear this from us than wonder why the guy in the Toyota is offering “cheap tickets” at the entrance. It’s a local pricing quirk, not a mystery.
What to bring
Reef-safe sunscreen, a dry bag or phone pouch, flip-flops you don’t care about, and a little cash for food and lockers. Midday sun on Ban Yen Road is no joke — hats and hydration matter. If you’re with kids or anyone under the height line, check the park’s current height rules for free entry before you budget tickets.
How it fits a Pattaya 123 day
Ramayana is the “one big outing” on a five-day sketch: hotel pool on day one, Koh Larn or a mall day somewhere else, and Ramayana when you want noise that isn’t echoing from a bar. Pair it with a quiet Na Jomtien dinner on the way home — The Cave, View Mare, or a seafood grill — and you’ve done the Gulf the way this coast actually works.
Pattaya beyond the noise doesn’t mean you never get wet. It means you pick the right kind of splash.
Hours, ticket promotions, and local-rate rules change — always confirm on the official site or at the gate before you pay.
